Google is now rolling out the new image search design for desktop, as announced at the company’s 20th anniversary event Monday. Bringing desktop and mobile in line. The new desktop design features much of what Google launched back in March with the new mobile image design changes, including captions on images, the URL of the image and new filter bubbles at the top. The screen shot above shows the new design of the image search results. Google announced Monday: Starting this week, we’ll also show more context around images, including captions that show you the title of the webpage where each image is published. This is critical to help you understand the page behind the image. We’ll also suggest related search terms at the top of the page for more guidance.

Google Patents Space-Saving Circuit Design For Smartphones

Google won a new patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) intended to reduce the amount of space taken up by an electronic device’s circuit board connections in traditional layouts. Filed under patent number ‘US20180228039,’ the documents describe what looks like a smartphone utilizing three circuit boards, with the third serving the additional purpose of acting as a series of connectors. That third board can also run perpendicular to the device’s display, off to the side of its built-in battery, or underneath it. The configuration could use a flexible or printed circuit but seems to cover just about any layout of those within its scope. Any of those will generate space savings, according to the filing, and the use of that extra room can vary widely. Among

Although Google’s Material Design user interface recently popped in the Chrome Canary channel, you can actually enable part of this interface in Chrome 68 for the desktop and Apple iOS devices. This is done by enabling the setting using the “flags” command in the address bar. For desktop, do the following: Type chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md into the address bar. Next to “UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome,” switch from Default to Refresh. Restart Chrome. Although Google lists MacOS, Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS as supporting platforms for this new interface, this change didn’t work for us in the MacOS version but clearly changed the interface for the Windows 10 build, pictured above. We didn’t test the Linux and Chrome OS versions. What you’ll see with Google’s new design
