Two years of Google selling "Pixel" branded versions of HTC and LG handsets have done nothing to arrest the slide that both Android licensees are seeing in their mobile sales. Will more exclusive machine learning and artificial intelligence features on Pixel 3 models do anything to change that?Google's Pixel phones look like an iPhone but don't sell well or generate profits HTC gets pixelated Ten years ago, Google offered Taiwan's HTC a lifeline of sorts in the form of an Android partnership for the original HTC Dream, followed by Nexus One. However, the former Windows Mobile contract manufacturer hasn't fared so well since. Google's last two years of HTC-built Pixels have done nothing to help the struggling company. After its initial work with HTC, Google moved on to partner with Samsu...

Content warning: the following story contains sensitive material regarding racism, anti-Semitism, and the sexualization of minors. Bing and Yahoo, which is powered by Bing, are both suggesting offensive content within their search features. How-To Geek spotted that Bing’s image search is serving up suggestions for related topics that contain racist terms, the sexualization of minors, and otherwise offensive content. The Verge then found that this problem extends to Yahoo: its homepage search box includes an autocomplete feature that populates racist phrases, and the results often prioritize the company’s Yahoo Answers posts that contain offensive material. On Bing, the suggestions, called smart suggestion bubbles, appear in a line above the results after conducting an image search. P

Bing Is Suggesting the Worst Things You Can Imagine

If you use Bing’s image search, you’re going to see the worst filth you can imagine.  Bing suggests racist terms and shows horrifying images. Bing also suggests you search for exploited children—even if you have SafeSearch disabled. We’ve contacted Microsoft for comment but, as of publishing time, they had not immediately responded. We will update the story when they do. The screenshots here show what we saw when we wrote this piece, but Bing’s results shift over time. Google didn’t have any of these problems, according to our tests. This is a Bing problem, not just a search engine problem. The same problem affects Bing’s video search. First, Bing Gets Super Racist Search for “jews” on Bing Images and Bing suggests you search for “Evil Jew.” The top results also include a meme that ap
